Patchouli (Pogostemon patchouli) is a plant native to Southeast Asia. With a very characteristic aroma, it is used in perfumery as a fixative. Frankincense oil (Boswellia carterii), also known by the common name Olibanum, is obtained by the steam distillation of the B. carterri resin.

Petitgrain oil is obtained by steam distillation from the branches, leaves and green fruits of the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium var. Amara).
