Native to Asia, it is currently grown in several countries, including the US, Brazil and Israel. Grapefruit essential oil is obtained by cold pressing the fruit peel. Scientific research suggests that exposure to grapefruit essential oil stimulates the digestive system, reduces appetite and body weight. The orange (Citrus sinensis) is a citrus fruit created in India, from the crossing of the grapefruit with the tangerine. Aromatherapy with orange oil reduces anxiety and relieves moderate symptoms of depression and stress.
These essential oils are obtained by cold pressing of the fruit peel, so it is possible to contaminate them by pesticides and other chemicals used in conventional agriculture. In addition, the use of these chemicals alters the composition of the essential oil, namely the amount of aldehydes, minor components which are still important in determining their quality.

The citronella of Ceylon (Cymbopogon nardus) is mostly cultivated in Sri Lanka, hence its name. Its essential oil is a recognized insect repellent. Thanks to its properties, it is also incorporated into various insect repellent products.
